Am I the only person in the country to have had no e mail facility since the 10th March? I am not receiving any and , as far as I am aware, cannot send either.

They will not answer their telephone complaints line so it is a blind 'wait and see'.

That's a shame Eleanor, I sent you quite a long e-mail yesterday.
We are with AOL , we are receiving e-mails ok but it takes ages to load them.
Hope you are ok apart from the lack of e-mails.

Hi,

I am with Virgin/NTL and am able to send emails. I have had this happen to me and the explaination was they were doing work in the area. Apparantly you can go on their website and find out if anything is effecting services in your area. Hope you get on line again soon.

PS I presume you have shut down your computer and restarted it.

Hi Eleanor,

That`s a nuisance for you - I sent you a mail too!

We are with talktalk and it seems to take longer and longer to load these days.

Hi Eleanor

I'm with Virgin/ntl and not having any trouble. Having said that, there are occasions when I appear to have no internet connection, in which case I turn off everything, swich off the modem (that's the important bit), leave it off for 30 seconds and restart. Voila! Everything's back to normal. I'm actually with Virgin now but used to be with ntl, and ntl had a "status" section on their website which told you if any areas of the country were likely to be experiencing internet failure. Of course that's no good if you have no internet connection, but I was wondering if someone else could do it for you?

I've just thought, Eleanor, you've obviously got internet connection, so you should be able to go onto the Virgin media page http://www.virginmedia.com, click on "email" and retrieve your email from there. They started a new system a few months ago where they didn't delete your email automatically from your inbox on their web site unless you set it up to do so, and it only has a certain amount of storage. It could be that this is full and so won't allow any more emails in.

Thank you all. I am now up and running again. It appears that I needed to reset passwords and such like when it was reinstated. Now done so back to normal --- until next time!

I've been having trouble with mine - one day last week no messages came through and I know there should have been some. Also, all the ones that were in my inbox disappeared. I'm with Virgin/ntl, so will perhaps ring them about it.

I would Lyn. They do not tell you what you need to do on their web site. It was hard to get in contact with them as they either did not answer or cut me off but eventually I spoke to a nice chap who spoke me through it.
